Sunday

1st July

“Oh, the joy of drinking deeply from the Fountain of Salvation.

In that wonderful day you will say, ‘Thank the Lord. Praise His name. Tell the world about His wondrous love. How mighty He is.

Sing to the Lord,

for He has done wonderful things.’”

Isaiah 12:3-5 . Living Bible

Singing God’s praise

Isaiah 12 is a graphic description of the people’s joy when Jesus Christ comes to reign over the earth.

Even now we need to express our gratitude to God; thanking Him, praising Him, and telling others about Him.

From the depths of our gratitude,

we must praise Him.

In our overflowing praise,

we must share Him with others.

Tearfund is a Christian international aid and development agency working globally to end poverty and injustice, and to restore dignity and hope in some of the world’s poorest communities.

We operate in more than fifty countries around the world. As well as being present in disaster situations and recovery through our response teams, we speak out on behalf of poor people on the national and international stage by petitioning governments, campaigning for justice and raising the profile of key poverty issues wherever we can.

When it comes to development, we work through local churches and church-based partner organisations. Why? Forty years of experience tell us that people are not just mouths to feed, and that the causes of poverty are complex. When local churches are mobilised and equipped to help their communities, the results are not just survival, but transformation. Churches bring knowledge about local and individual needs, they have continuous presence in a community, and they’re uniquely placed to help bring about the material, emotional and spiritual transformation that can free their communities from poverty. At Tearfund we work to mobilise and equip local churches to bring that transformation to their communities. And when the local church operates as part of the global church, its capacity and influence are a mighty force for change.

We have a vision to see 50 million people released from material and spiritual poverty through a worldwide network of 100,000 local churches.

.. .. “JUST IMAGINE” .. ..

Just Imagine (developed by our 13 Baptist associations and the national resource) was quietly launched to our churches.

Our vision is that together as a Baptist family and with the help of Just Imagine we will rediscover

a new Christ-like spirit of generosity and

sacrificial giving.

This is much more than asking for more Home Mission funding - which we need badly - during a difficult economic time.

It is about believing that as God's people we are called to 'walk together and watch over each other'.

It is about caring enough to pray for each other and to seek to help equip and empower each other in mission and ministry.

Galatians 5:22-23 NIV

But the fruit of the Spirit is

love, joy, peace,

forbearance, kindness, goodness,

faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.

“Engraft the Word of God into your life to bring about major changes in your personality.

There are nine qualities you need to concentrate on to develop Christ-likeness, as described as the fruit of the Spirit in Galatians 5:22-23.”

Each day John Stott recited the nine-fold fruit of the Spirit and prayed for the fullness of the Spirit.

From ‘Getting the Best from the Bible’.

Romans 8:38-39 NIV

For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord

COME, now is the time to worship,

Come,

now is the time to give your heart.

Come, just as you are to worship,

Come,

just as you are before your God.

Come.

One day every tongue
will confess You are God.

One day every knee will bow.

Still, the greatest treasure remains for those

Who gladly choose You now.

Filled with compassion for all creation,
Jesus came into a world that was lost.
There was but one way that He could save us,
Only through suffering death on a cross.

God, You are waiting. Your heart is breaking
For all the people who live on the earth.
Stir us to action, Filled with Your passion
For all the people who live on the earth.

Great is Your passion for all the people
Living and dying without knowing You.
Having no saviour, they’re last forever
If we don’t speak out and lead them to You.

From every nation we shall be gathered,
Millions redeemed shall be Jesus? reward.
Then He will turn and say to His Father:
“Truly my suffering was worth it all!”
